FREETOWN – The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Electoral Committee on Monday 21st December 2020 in a press conference informed the public that football members will hold elective congress on the 26th and 27th February 2021 in Makeni. Talking to SALONE TIMES Sports, most of the members thanked the committee for the date and the venue they have released. But majority of them raised concern over the venue of the congress. According to them, they have nothing against choosing Makeni to host but they are thinking about what happened in the first congress that was held in Makeni.
On the eve of the above congress, they said they were attacked by tugs while they were preparing to attend a proposed peace party that was to be organized by the FA.
They went on that they informed the Police about the incident but they pay less attention. On the day of the congress, they said the same tugs re-grouped and met them at the gate of the conference hall and crashed with their supporters.
On that same day, the real delegates with the congress package said they were stopped at the gate of the hall.
In the hall, the congress came to an abrupt end when it reaches to the roll call of delegates when non delegates started to claim representations.
Because of the above, football members have appealed to the authorities to make sure they put all mechanisms in place for a peaceful, free and fear election.
They stressed on having enough security and to let the real delegates be giving the congress parcels on time.
