FREETOWN – The President of the Sierra Leone Sports Writers Association (SWASAL) Frank Magnus Cole who also doubles as the Manager for Radio Mercury has commended the two days symposium organized by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA). In his statement he said he loves the idea of educating the coaches and the Team Managers on how to build the game and stop riot at matches but he said the education must be extended to the players, the fans and the entire public in the country.
The two-day symposium was organized at the Atlantic Hotel, Aberdeen Beach in Freetown. The symposium involved all national team coaches, Team Coordinators and Team Managers. The symposium also involved several experts and facilitators who lectured on several different areas like Media, Sports Medicine, Sports Administration, work ethics and more. The symposium and induction was an interactive one of which the participants were allowed to ask questions and make points. In this case Frank Cole said the symposium will act as a process of building the national teams and will bring national pride. He emphasized that the public should be brought in at every phase of the process. Frank Cole said he believed that despite the disagreement with the leadership, the FA is working towards developing the game. He also commended the FA for creating an office to work with corporate partners and strengthening their Public Relations wing. This he said he sees as the FA setting a mandate for the Premier League Board to diversify its sources of income and not just depending on gate takings to fund its league. He also called on them to make women’s programs a priority.
