FREETOWN, March 22nd, (SALONE TIIMES) – Sources reaching SALONE TIMES Sports state that the friendly match between Sierra Leone senior national team and their Zambia counterpart has been postponed. The above friendly match was set to take place today Monday 22nd March 2021 in Zambia. But according to source from the FA, the match has been postponed to an indefinite date. Reason according to them is due to the current global travelling difficulties and constrains faced in the release of foreign based players amidst the COVID19 restrictions. Another source states that the friendly would have been a good test for their two AFCON qualifying matches, but the technical team advised that the time is too short to play three matches.

Leone Stars will engage the Crocodiles of Lesotho in Lesotho on the 27th March 2021 and will host the Squirrels of Benin at home on the 30th March 2021. In this case the technical team takes into consideration that injury against any player during the friendly will hinder their preparation for their two vital matches. The two AFCON qualifying matches at home and away is a must win match for Leone Stars if they are to qualify for the 2021 AFCON competition in Cameroon. It is not clear yet whether the above friendly will take place again or will take place later as both countries were taking it as part of the preparation for their two international matches.
