FREETOWN – As part of the enforcement measured introduced by NaCOVERC, 16 shops along the Eastend Police, Fourah Bay Road, Magazine Cut and Kissy Road received NaCOVERC yellow card.
The yellow card like a football is a warning for not playing by the rules of the game. This too was introduced by NaCOVERC before further action is taken.
Detective Edward Issa attached to NaCOVERC Eastend Police Team informed this medium that they are issuing yellow card to shops after they break the rules of Covid-19 regulation.
He disclosed that most of those shops contravened the rules. Some shops, he said lack Veronica bucket, Soap and clean water.
For the shops that lack those items, they were fined Le 500,000 and a warning was issue to them.
He added that five shops paid instantly to the Bank when they were fined while others were pleading for more time.
“Today we move to give them final warning for them to pay their fines while we cross check on others.”
He said by instrument, they need to pay if they failed, they can close their facility.
“We issue yellow card to them as a warning but the next time they will receive red card”. The Eastend Police Team also targeted vehicles that are not complying with the COVID-19 regulation. APR115 a commercial bus plying the eastend roots was stopped for overloading and most of it passengers did not put on their face masks. The owner paid the fine before he was handed over to the Eastend Police.
