Before the SLFA ordinary congress the district and the regional FA’s whose mandate have expired were asked to conduct elective congress to elect new executive bodies that will represent them in the congress.

The three days congress will start today Wednesday and ends on Friday at the Radison BLU Hotel at Aberdeen in Freetown. The Regional Chairmen as per their constitution will be endorsed as ex-officio members of the SLFA executive.

In Freetown, the executive of the Western Area Football Association disqualified two candidates for the post of Chairman.

The two Noel Kitami Horton and Abdul Barrie were to contest against Pastor Philip Buck who have been acting in the above position for over 10 years.

But according to the Secretary General of WAFA, Benjamin Gordon the two candidates failed to present the required documents meant to contest for the Chairman position and that they also submitted their documents late.

Some of the documents he said were without signatures of the two candidates.

The two candidates debunks the claim of the Secretary General saying it was a premeditated act to let Pastor Buck be the sole candidate for the position.

According to them they complained to the FA and they were waiting for their comment. They went on that if the FA fails their next resort will be to go to court. Nothing was heard from the FA onto the time the WAFA executive conducted the election.

On the day of the election, the court went with an injunction to stop the elections but they met the process has ended. In the election Pastor Buck and all the other candidates went unopposed for the various positions.

Among them were Honorable Oye Koroma for Vice Chairman, Mrs Habib Bangura (Ex-officio1), Abu Manley (Ex-officio2), Abdul Aziz Jalloh (Ex-officio3) and Augustine Kambo for Treasurer. Meanwhile, with the petition case pending it is not yet known whether Pastor Buck will be endorsed as one of the ex-officio members in the congress.
