FREETOWN, Nov. 9 (SALONE TIMES) – The Sierra Leone Athletics Association on the 29th October in an executive meeting at the NOC Headquarter, Howe Street in Freetown unanimously appointed Edmond Abu Jr. as the Electoral commissioner for their elective congress scheduled to be held this month. The executive also elected Michael Sesay and Coach O’rielly Campbell as Assistant Commissioners to conduct the election of national executive members to run the association. According to them the election will take place in Kenema on the 21-22nd November 2021. In the meeting they also confirmed the acting national coach Abu Bakarr Conteh (Kumalo) as the national head coach of the association. Apart from the head coach position, other people were also appointed for various positions in the association. According to them they Kenema was chosen because they were in Kenema for the election when the court stopped them from conducting the election few months back. In this case now that the court has given them the okay to conduct the election, Kenema will again be the venue for the congress.
According to Baraka, the Secretary General of the association, the court has mandated them to go to the congress with their review constitution. He assured the executive that all the clubs had received the reviewed constitution. The president of the association appealed to all their members to go to the congress peacefully and vote for the candidates of their choice for the various positions to run the affairs of the association for the next four years.
