The Bo City Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gbotima Ventures and launched five buses to enhance the Bo city’s public transport system.
This step taking by the council is aimed at addressing the challenges of transportation and provide a more efficient and reliable transport service for the residents of Bo City.
The MoU agreement outlines plans to improve the quality and accessibility of public transport, which is expected to benefit not just the growing population of the city but also both the Council and Gbotima Ventures. The initiative is part of a broader effort in Bo City Council to modernize public transport systems which was a manifesto promise by the Mayor of Bo City Council, Kobba Musa.
The initiative includes five Brand New Buses with modern facilities including Air Conditioners, Plasma TV and a train-like sitting position which accommodates luggage below the seats. The buses will run from one destination to another with labels of the various plying routes in the municipality.
His Worship, the Mayor Kobba Musa who for the past weeks has been urging Gbotima Ventures to make haste and start operations, officially launched the buses for operation in the city of Bo.
As Bo City Council is built on Inclusiveness, Participation and Good Governance, a consultation meeting with the transport sectors in Bo city was initiated by the Council and successful deliberations were made with all transport sectors giving meaningful contributions. Questions were raised on the operational make-up of the buses. Adequately, the staff members of the buses did justice to the questions.
The Buses started operations on Monday 5th August, 2024 on a free basis and this will last till the following week which cost fees will be effected of 5Nle for adults and 3Nle from school going persons from one route destinations to another.
This MoU and launch marks a significant step towards improving urban transport infrastructure not only in Bo City but also in the rest of the country.
