At their own turf, East End Lions lost to the defending champions and current premier league leaders Bo Rangers 0-1 at the Trade Center field in Freetown.
The defeat against the Rangers is the first defeat Lions have conceived in the ongoing Sierra Leone premier league. In the match, Lions held the visitors to a goalless until the end of the first half.
In the second half, both teams brought in fresh legs to strengthen their squad as they search for goals. The defense of the Rangers continuously cut all the attacks build-up by the Lion’s midfield and the attack.
Bo got a counterattack in the additional time of the match with Abu Komeh hammering home the only goal in the match. The goal though brought an abrupt end to the match when East End Lions fans attacked central referee in the middle of the pitch. The Police quickly came to his rescue and run with him to the dressing run.
The fans were at the pitch for over 20 minutes before the security finally pushed them out of the pitch. But the match was called off with less than 3 minutes more to play.
The victory led Rangers to extend the lead at the top with 7 point between them and the team in second, Blackpool until last Sunday when Blackpool faced East End Tigers at the same pitch but the result was not known until press time.
Bo Rangers now have 26 points in 10 matches played. They still maintain their unbeaten runs with 8 wins and 2 draws.
