FREETOWN, Sep. 28 (232News) –Bollore Transport and Logistics Sierra Leone in marking it Marathon day donated over Le 30 Million worth of food and non-food items to City of Rest Rehabilitation Centre.
The donation which took place last Sunday 27 September at City of Rest complex, Grafton brought joy to staff and guests.
The donated items include dettol, insect killer, toilet roll, bathing soap, saba soap, rice, milk bag, cube sugar, tea bag, sardine cartoon, Mayonnaise and water.
City of Rest Programme Coordinator James Ngobeh described the day as the happiness in his life and that of City of Rest.
He went on to say City of Rest Rehabilitation Centre has been operated for over 36 years in Freetown, serving the communities in Sierra Leone. The Centre offers residential care for seventy people both male and female struggling with drug addiction problem and mental illness.
The Centre can only accommodate forty-five persons at a time because of financial constraints.
He continued to say since the establishment of the Centre at Grafton in 2014, the Centre has and will continue to provide faith-based treatment and mental health treatment that involve counselling to patients.
“We have a professional, relevant, and faith-based treatment program. Over these years of operation, the Centre has brought about tremendous transformation to the lives of drug addicts, traumatized or delinquent youths struggling with mental illness. It has brought back families together and healed the hearts of many through our deliverance ministry, counseling and rehabilitation programmes, which were driven by it Founder, the late Rev. Morie Ngobeh, whose passion was driven by the desire to help these victims.”
He emphasized that City of Rest is an interdenominational and seeks to serve all who sincerely desire a change in their lives and accept the Christian character of the programmed.
He expressed appreciation to Bollore Transport and Logistics because they have seen what they are doing as the home is a place where everybody is somebody.
“We care for people and this is an independent organization with support from government and mental health.”
Bollore Terminal Analyst Ambassador for Marathon Day, Darrell Coker pointed out that Bollore Transport and Logistics has been in Sierra Leone for long but it became popular when they took over the Freetown terminal at Queen Elizabeth Port.
He disclosed that they usually marked September as a special moth which they described as Marathon day.
The Marathon day which they call family day paved the way for over one thousands Bollore staff across the world to contributed 5 Euros in other to donate to needy people.
He disclosed that several donations through Marathon day have been made but this time is for the Centre because they believe in the good work they are doing.
Darrell Coker used the opportunity to call on other stakeholders to come to the aid of the center because they are existing.
“We happy to meet with you and we pray this will not be the last. We hope your dreams will come to reality. There is light at the end of the tunnel. After here you can be an ambassador for city of rest” he encouraged the guests.
One of the guests thanked Bollore for their timely intervention to the center.
Bollore Transport and Logistics will also provide Grafton pure water for the Center for four months starting from the time the donation was made.
