NORTH, SEPTEMBER 3rd, (232News) The Risks Communications and Social Mobilization lead at the District Health Management Team DHMT Bombali; Mohamed Conteh has disclosed that since the district recorded it first Covid-19 case on 26th April 2020, Bombali has recorded Forty nine (49) Cases with fifteen (15) deaths cumulatively.
Conteh made this revelation during an exclusive interview with Regional reporter in Makeni on Monday 17th August, 2020 at his DHMT office at Stocco in Makeni.
Presenting a statistical data as at the 17th August 2020 to this press, the Risks Communications and Social Mobilization lead said that from the cases recorded, thirty (30) recovered while fifteen (15) died. He added that they currently have ten (10) active cases at the treatment centre and with one in isolation.
Conteh explained that active cases in quarantine are thirty five (35) from 6 quarantine locations in the district. cases from quarantine centres is six hundred and seventeen (617) adding that the total number of people quarantined since the pandemic emerged is six hundred and fifty two (652). He maintained that suspected cases samples collected is seventeen (17) with fifty seven (57) pending results.
According to Conteh, the number of cumulative samples from Bombali totaled one thousand and eighteen (1,018), and confirmed results are nine hundred and sixty one (961).
In their bid to intensify the COVID-19 fight, Conteh affirmed that the National COVID-19 Emergency centre (NaCOVAC) has designed a program call โbig ideaโ of the week which they are implementing every week in Bombali since it was crafted. He dilated on how they use the big idea of the week to sensitise people on the fight of COVID-19 so that they will help to save lives of many. He disclosed that big idea this week is free test for covid -19 at the Brander Medical centre starting on the 16th to 22 August 2020.
He furthered that, the fight against Covid is not an individual fight as its more contagious than Ebola as even survivors can be affected if they come in contact with an effected person which is the complete opposite if Ebola.
He said though the government has ease the COVID-19 restrictions which he believed should have encourage all to adhere to the preventive measures of covid that will help eradicate the disease in the country, they are still envisaging some challenges. He said some people have lately become complacent in adhering to the COVID-19 measures especially the use of face mask in public places and maintaining social distancing which he said have become a major challenge. He said they have done several campaigns and sensitizations on the preventives of covid just to help reduce the risk of spreading the disease. He encouraged all and sundry to follow the measures as the disease is still in the country, and Bombali is still recording cases if not on a daily basis but intermittently
