FREETOWN, Aug 31 (SALONE TIMES) – The Sierra Leone Boxing Association (SLBA) on Friday ended the celebration of the international Boxing Day celebration with fights of different weight categories. The final day ceremony took place at the Siaka Steven Stadium Atlantic Hall in Freetown. The final day climaxed fights with different weight categories in the association. The women took part in pad works also with different weight junior and senior girls. In all eight fights took place with Boxers from five different clubs in Freetown. The five clubs were RSLAF Boxing Club, Police Boxing Club, Correctional Boxing Club, Mercury International Boxing Club and Elite Family Boxing Club.
In the eight bouts Mercury won two fights and Police two with two fights ending with draw. In the first fight Arnold Koroma from Correctional defeated Benjamin Davies in the Fly Weight category by Unanimous decision. In the Light Weight 59 kg fight Abu Bakarr S. Kanu from Police knock-out Willie Labor from Mercury, in the same weight category John Browne from Police defeated Adnan Kargbo from Fire Force by Unanimous decision. By unanimous decision Mustapha Bangura from Mercury defeated Musa Bangura from Police in the Light Welter category. Also from Mercury Usif D. Kargbo defeated Ibrahim Binkoe from Police by unanimous decision in the Welter weight category. In the same weight category, the battle between Ansu Coker of Correctional and Ibrahim Dikis Kamara of Mercury came to an abrupt end when the coach for Ibrahim threw the towel in the ring at the end of the second rounds of the fight. The Light Weight category fight between Alie Turay of Correctional from the Red corner and Samuel C. Kamara from RSLAF ends with draw points. The Heavy Weight fight between Mohamed Kallon from the Elite Family club and Amid Fofanah from Police also ended in a draw. In another Heavy Weight fight Mohamed Kandeh from RSLAF was declared as winner when Frank Weaver from RSLAF failed to turn up for the fight. The fights were also graced by USA based Dauda Blaq Kamara who has volunteered to construct a boxing arena for the boxers in Makeni.
