The champions of the Liberia division1 league LISCR FC this past Saturday 19 August forced the champions of the Sierra Leone premier league Bo Rangers to a 1-1 draw at the Southern Arena Stadium in Bo.
The above match was the first match of the CAF Champions league first preliminary rounds.
In the match, the host Bo Rangers scored the first goal in the 3rd minutes of the first half by Mohamed Kabba.
The Liberian club got the equalizer in the 34th Minutes of the first half 31 minutes after the Rangers goal through Christopher Jackson.
The visitors were though comfortable with the equalizer for an away match as they went on to strengthen their defense and maintained the 1-1 score onto the end of the match.
LISCR FC will host Bo Rangers a week later for the return leg in Monrovia Liberia at the SKD Stadium. Despite the 1-1 draw result, both coaches are equally determined that they will qualify to the next stage. The head coach of Bo Rangers Alhaji Foray said he was optimistic that they will win at home notwithstanding, he said he is still confident that they will defeat LISCR FC in Liberia and qualify to the group stage.
He went on that they are now going to work on where they made mistake so that they will rectify them before the date for the return match.
He went on that his appeal to the management is to let the team travel to Liberia early to acclimatize with the weather and train at the stadium.
Coach Foray accepted that they wasted a lot of possible chances to score which he said will not repeat in the return leg.
The technical team of the Liberian team said they came too closed to win the match but the 1-1 draw is not a bad result for an away match.
They too are confident that with the support of their home fans nothing can stop them from winning the return match.
Both teams were supposed to take part in the West Africa club competition in Guinea Conakry, but LISCR FC withdrew from the competition to continue with their preparation to face the Rangers.
