Sierra Leone’s U-20 national team Shooting Stars falls in group A alongside the host country Egypt and three other countries. According to the format the top two countries from each group will qualify for the quarter-final stage of the competition plus two best 3rd place in the groups.
Sierra Leone will start their campaign against Zambia on the 27th April 2025 in Ismailia. The team departed Sierra Leone to Egypt on Thursday with 17 home based players and 7 foreign base players.
The team departed in high spirit with conviction of qualifying for the U-20 World Cup. By so doing, the football authorities have urged them that the campaign should start with a victory on the match day one against Zambia.
Though the group has been termed as the group of the death they believed that if they survive from that group, they are sure of making it to the semi-final stage if not the final. According to the format all the semi-finalists will automatically qualify for the World Cup in Chile.
This is the first time the Sierra Leone U-20 team is taking part in the CAF U-20 Africa Nations Cup and they have promised to set another record.
Sierra Leone will play their second match against the host nation Egypt on the 30th of April 2025. In their third match, they will battle with Tanzania and in their last match; they will face South Africa on the 6th of May 2025.
