FREETOWN, Aug 10 (232News) –  The last Sierra Leone delegation of athletes and the coaches has returned home safely from Japan. Sierrra Leone had always had an ugly record of athletes absconding the Games either before the Games or during the Games. This year, all the athletes and officials who went to Japan have willingly returned to Sierra Leone.

According to the Chef De Mission Unisa Deen Kargbo, he is overwhelmed that there had been no defection this time around. Not only him, he said, he believes the government and the entire nation will be proud of them for the record that they have set. The down side of athletes defecting is that most of the defected athletes hardly continue their career to represent their countries ever again. This he said it is bad for the growth of sports. He encouraged them all to work hard and continue with their trainings that will qualify them to go several places in the future. The Chef De Mission stayed back in Japan to receive the Sierra Leone Paralympic delegation that will arrive in Japan this month. The Paralympic Games will kick-off this month and end next month September this year.
