FREETOWN, July 13 (232news.com) –On 6 July, 2022, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone donated a batch of books and equipment to the library of Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone (USL). Chargé d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy Li Xiaoyong, Vice Chancellor and Principal of USL Foday Sahr, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Principal of Fourah Bay College Joseph Kamara, as well as officials from the USL and Chinese Embassy attended the handing over ceremony.
Mr. Li Xiaoyong said that USL is a very good witness of China and Sierra Leone’s time-honored friendship, especially in educational and cultural sectors. For example, in the past years China has sponsored more than 1000 Sierra Leonean students to study in China and invited more than 5100 Sierra Leonean friends from all walks of life to China for short-term training courses or exchanges. Mr. Li stressed that he believes the USL students benefited from the above mentioned programs would serve as goodwill ambassadors between China and Sierra Leone.
Professor Sahr expressed his gratitude for China’s unswerving support to Sierra Leone, especially to USL. He said these books and materials will surely boost the capacity building of the students and teachers of USL.
The books include three volumes of President Xi Jinping’s books: the Governance of China, the Concise History of the Communist Party of China (CPC), How the CPC Exercises the Rule by Law, Motive Force of Transformation, etc.
