Chinese Embassy Mr. Li Xiaoyong, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of MMTU Prof. Philip John Kanu

FREETOWN, July 13 (232news.com) – On 8 July, 2022, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone donated a batch of teaching items to Milton Margai Technical University(MMTU). Chargé d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy Mr. Li Xiaoyong, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of MMTU Prof. Philip John Kanu, staff from Chinese Embassy and lecturers and students of MMTU attended the handing over ceremony.

Mr. Li Xiaoyong congratulated the transformation of the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology into MMTU in November last year. He said that China and Sierra Leone enjoy time-honored friendship, the two peoples have forged and sealed an indestructible and profound ties  in the pursuit of national independence and social-economic development. China is willing to work with Sierra Leone to strengthen practical cooperation in various fields, especially education and share successful experiences to bring more benefits to two peoples.

Prof. Kanu expressed his gratitude for China’s continuous support to Sierra Leone in education, vocational training and other sectors. He said he had studied in China some years ago and learnt a lot from Chinese people especially their spirit of hard working. He urged the students of MMTU to study harder so as to make more contributions to the development of Sierra Leone in future.

Prof. Kanu and the University staff also took Mr. Li to inspect the artifacts made by the participants of a joint workshop organized by China and Sierra Leone a few years ago at MMTU.
