As ignorance of the law is no excuse and to maintain non-violence throughout the league the executive of the Central One Football Association (COFA) on Wednesday 16 August organized a one-day seminar to update participating teams about the new rules of the game.

The seminar was attended by three representatives from each of the 40 community teams. The three representatives were the coach, captain, and one official each from the 40 clubs. According to the league organizers, the three representatives will go home after the seminar to inform their players and fans. The Chairman of COFA Cline-Cole though said new rules that have not been implemented yet in the top tier league will not be implemented in this year’s COFA league.

The seminar took place at the Loko Baptist Church at Circular Road in Freetown. Also in the seminar, COFA updated the communities on the rules and regulations of the league.

They emphasized the issue of players signing for two teams which they said is tantamount to banning the player involve from playing in the league.

The representatives were also informed about the time of arrival for all teams for matches. The teams were also informed about the seed money but warned that they should wear the jersey given to them by the Gento Group of Companies with the company logo on it.

Apart from the prize monies, they said there will be individual prizes like the man of the match awards, the best player of the tournament, best young player of the league and so many more individual awards.

These awards, they said will be presented to them during the awards night after the league. They also informed the community representatives that they will ban any community that will involve in riotous from the league. In this year’s league, Fullah Tong, Mountain City, Calaba Tong, and Dove Cut will all miss out due to riotous conduct.
