The executive and the board members of the Central One Football Association (COFA) on Monday 3rd September unveiled the champion trophy at the Parade field.
According to them, they will be taking the trophy to the various participating communities in the knock-out stage. The organizers went on to pronounce that the winner of the inter-community champions league will go home with the giant trophy plus a cash prize of Le60M and that the runner-up will take home Le40M.
According to the chairman of COFA Phlipson Cline-Cole, the winner of the giant trophy will return the trophy after 3 months.
He went on that a community that will win the trophy 3 times will claim it as their own. There will be no trophy for the runner-up but there will be trophies and certificates for individual award winners.
The above league is presently in the group of 16 knock-out stage in which 8 teams will qualify to the quarter-final stage. In the first group of 16 matches, Bambra Tong defeated Ascension Town 3-1 at full time.
Bambra Tong qualify to the group of 16 from the group stage with 7 points.
In yesterday’s match, the defending champions Krootown Road Rangers battled with Soja Tong but the results of the match was not known onto press time.
In today’s match Tengbeh Town will host Fourah Bay community at the parade field. In tomorrow’s match, Aberdeen will host Central community. Meanwhile even at this stage the organizers have said the door is still open for business houses and individuals to sponsor league.
