FREETOWN, Nov. 5 (SALONE TIMES) – The Society for Democratic Initiative (SDI) has on Wednesday 3rd November 2021 awarded the Sierra Leone Audit Service for complying with the provisions of the Access to Information Act in 2020/2021.
The award was given to the institution during a one-day national stock taking on the implementation of the Right to Access Information Law at the Hub Hotel, Signal Hill in Freetown.
The Information Education and Communications Officer, Martin Sandy received the award on behalf of the Audit Service Sierra Leone.
The Audit Service Sierra Leone received the award together with other institutions including the Anti-Corruption Commission and the Sierra Leone Police.
The Executive Director of the Society for Democratic Initiative, Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai stated that over the years the institution had been requesting information from key MDAs but only the Audit Service, Anti-Corruption Commission and Sierra Leone Police have been the most complying institutions for 2020/2021 in releasing information to the public. He urged other MDAs to support the Right to Access Information Commission by releasing information to the public in a timely manner.
