FREETOWN, Oct. 25 (SALONE TIMES) – The outbreak of the COVID19 Pandemic in the world brought setback to several activities in the world. It is a disease that can be transferred through contact and as such, the whole world put a ban on sporting activities including football.
In this case, the world Football governing body FIFA, decided to disburse funds to their members for the development of certain projects while the ban is on hold.
The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) distributed the funds to regional FAs, clubs, the media and several other beneficiaries.
The FA allocated $5,000 to the Sports Writers Association (SWASAL) which they will collect in two portions $3,000 and $2,000 respectively.
The Sports Writers collected the first tranches of $3,000 for which they conducted course and helped some of their members with their college tuition fees.
According to source from the FA, the second tranche of the money has also been disbursed into the account of the various beneficiaries. But the Sport Writers denied receiving their own second tranche from the FA.
The Media head of the FA, Ibrahim Kamara confirmed to SALONE TIMES Sports that the FA has long since disbursed the balance fund to SWASAL but could not tell who signed and collected the money.
When the members of SWASAL met the media head who is also a SWASAL member he referred them to ask their executive members.
The association few months ago elected a new executive body but the question which the FA has failed to answer now is which of the executive body receives the balance money.
Both the new and the old executives have denied knowledge of the remaining balance. Fortunately, the Secretary General of the FA Chris Kamara, Benson Bawoh Cooperate Affairs, Ibrahim Kamara Head of Media, Sorie Ibrahim Sesay Tournament Director and Abu Bakarr Kamara are all members of SWASAL and staff of the FA.
But some of the members blasted that they are all not helping to expose this corrupt act. Some even went to the extent of accusing them of conniving to rogue the association they all belong.
