FREETOWN – Last weekend the Sierra Leone Handball Association gave out COVID19 relief fund to each of their clubs, referees, coaches and regional associations. The Secretary General A G Koroma on behalf of the association’s president Dr. Patrick Coker who is also the NOC President, said the association was aware of the effect COVID19 had caused globally. He went on that it was on that account that they appealed to their international partners, International Handball Federation, Confederation of Africa Handball Federation (CABH) Zone 2 Handball Federation and Commonwealth Handball Federation for help. He went on that the international Handball Federation yielded to their appeal with some amount with which they decided to support their members. He went on that the program is in two fold as they have also planned to clean the Cottage Hospital in Freetown with a date to be announced later. He commended the players for engaging themselves in self-training to keep fit. He told them that without the the players there will be no Handball Association. He told them to get prepared for the cleaning and turn up in their numbers on that day. He told them that out of the 6,000 Switzerland Francs, which is equivalent to Le55M which they received from the International Handball Federation (IHF) they have kept some amount for upcoming expenditures. The Secretary General AG Koroma warned them to go strictly by the COVID19 regulations until it ends one day.
