On Thursday 10th October 2024, one of the local newspapers in Sierra Leone came out with a front page headline ‘Cricket Boss In Alleged Sexual Harassment.’
In the story, they mentioned that the Cricket Chairman Francis Trevor Samura is in love with one of the female Cricket players.
The story continued that Francia has been in the habit bribing neighbors around not to let the mother of the said girl knows about their relationship.
The story went on that because of this; the Chairman has been wholly and solely concentrating and spending huge money to maintain the love out Cricket development.
In his reaction to the publication, the Chairman said the whole thing is out of malice and a way to tarnish his character and distract him from what he is doing to develop Cricket in Sierra Leone.
Before the above publication, the Chairman said two journalists met him and interviewed him on the above allegation.
But he said he was surprised to see things in the publication which he did not mention during the interview.
The whole thing he said was a ploy done by certain people in collaboration with the writer to tarnish his reputation. Francis went on that he is the Chairman of the Kingtom Police Barrack Mosque. As such, he said the Islam law states that if you not married you can’t have affairs with a woman who is not wife.
Because of this, he said he has decided not even shake hands with a woman not to talk about allowing a woman to enter his bedroom.
The said girl they are talking about, he said is not her neighbor and that they hardly see but only her when she is training at the Oval.
Meanwhile SALONE TIMES Sports met the lady they alleged the Chairman has been harassing.
She refuted the allegation of been harassed by the Chairman of Cricket Francis Samura. She went on that the only issue is her boyfriend who had problem with the Chairman but the chairman decided to forgive him.
The issue she said was a house breaking allegation on her boyfriend. The lady went on that she received an unknown call from England who directed her to see someone at Hastings barrack.
That while at the place, she said the person explained to her about the bad plans the Chairman have in mind for her which will lead her to lose her job.
The person referred her to meet one journalist at one bar in Freetown. She said they discussed lengthy which she will not reveal because the matter is now under investigation.
But she categorically denied having any sexual affairs with the Chairman. She denied most of the things the writers alleged.
Meanwhile, SALONE TIMES Sports talk with Gabriel Anthony who said he has nothing to do with the above publication and that he did not discuss anything with the lady or any other person in relation with the matter.
Francis emphasized that his focus for now is how to search for funds for the senior team for their tournament in Nigeria next month.
