Few months back the head coach of the senior men’s national team Kenneth Masinga announced 14 players for the Africa Cup Qualifier in South Africa. These players he said will be monitored up to few days to the date of departure. The 14 players have continued to training and engaging into friendly matches with the U-19 players. With few days to the departure of the team, Coach Kenneth Masinga has confirmed after the approval of the board that he will be travelling with the players that he announced few weeks back. The team will depart for South Africa in the first week of September 2023. The tournament itself will kick-off on the 5th September onto the 10th September 2023 in Benoni South Africa. The participating teams will arrive in South Africa on the 3rd September 2023. The Sierra Leone delegation will depart on the 2nd September 2023 and arrive on the 3rd September 2023. In all eight countries are set to battle for the Africa 2023 T2O Cup. The eight countries are divided into two groups of four countries each. Sierra Leone falls in group B with Kenya, Mali and Cameroon. In group A are Nigeria, Rwanda, Ghana and Gambia. The two top countries in each group will qualify for the semi-final and the final stage of the Africa Cup. The 4th of September will be the day for rest training and press conference to enlighten the media about the competition. The tournament will start on the 5th September with Ghana engaging Gambia in a West Africa derby match at 9:00 am. In the second match Kenya will host Cameroon in the afternoon at 134:30 pm. Sierra Leone will rest on the 5th and the 6th September and will play their first match on the 7th September 2023 at 9:00 am. Sierra Leone will again rest the next day and will engage Mali on the 9th September 2023 in the afternoon at 13:30 pm. The group stage encounter will end on the 10th September 2023 when Sierra Leone will face Kenya in a battle for the leader of the group. The four qualify countries will battle in the stage to get the champion that will lift the giant Africa T20 Cup.
