FREETOWN, Apr. 25 (SALONE TIMES) – The battle for the Sierra Leone Cricket Association premier league championship becomes tense match after match. The battle for the top position is among three clubs the defending champions Police CC, Asians PRO and the Mid-West CC.

Two of the clubs Asian PRO CC and Mid-West CC strengthened their teams with new signings set to win the league. The defending champions Police won their first match against Copper Safe by 7 wickets.

Asian PRO defeated Mid-West by 5 runs while Mid-West won their first match and loss their second match played. Talking to SALONE TIMES Sports the captain of Police, Abu Bakarr Kamara said they prepared for the match that they are supposed to face next.

He went on that they are not scared of the new signings of their opponents as they know they have the squad to win back the league.

Bakarr went on that they have respect for all the premier league clubs even though they have confidence to win the league unbeaten.

The captain of Asian PRO CC Mohamed Khan said he is confidence that they will win the league this season base on their performance against Mid-West which he said is one of the top clubs in the league though they played without two of their star players Lansana Lamin and his younger brother Khan.

The two players he said will join the team in their next match. The Mid-West captain George Edward Ngegba said they lost to the Asians due to the failure of their middle order batsmen. They too played without their new signing Abass Gbla whom he said was not match fit but will be with them in their next match.

On Saturday 23 April, the defending champions Police faced Gujarat CC at POW School Ovals, Asian PRO also faced Copper Safe at POW Ovals according to fixtures but the results were not known onto press time.   

On the same Saturday, Mid-West defeated Copper Safe by 8 wickets.
