Female Team Set For Botswana

FREETOWN, Sep 1 (SALONE TIMES) – Sierra Leone Senior Female National Cricket team did their last training yesterday 31 August, at the POW School Cricket Oval. The female team is preparing to take part in the ICC Senior T20 World Cup qualifying tournament in Botswana.

In the preparation, the Cricket board is patiently waiting for the Finance Ministry to disburse funds to them to buy air ticket, allowance, hotel fees and other expenditures.

 According to the Board Chairman, they have developmental meetings to attend apart from the competition in Botswana.

He went on that during the meeting they will be discussing the issue of the U-19 National teams in the division2 league who missed their tournament due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

 In the discussion they will be advocating for high performance training for the Boys, he said.

The chairman revealed that they will be presenting the team to NSA today, 1 September, bidding farewell to them.

He said they will also use the opportunity to thank the NSA Directors for fast tracking the process to allocate funds to them.

The team will rest from now to Sunday when they will take off to Botswana.

 The technical Director assured the nation that the team is in high spirit for the tournament. The tournament has 11 participating countries divided into two groups with Sierra Leone falling in a group of five countries.

Two countries will qualify from each group for the Semi-final stage.

In the tournament, only the champion will qualify to join the other countries for the final stage of the ICC Female T20 World Cup.
