FREETOWN, May 9 (SALONE TIMES) –The Sierra Leone Cricket Association on Friday organized a one day workshop to capacitate coaches and players to expand the game. According to Daniel Koroma the Chief Operating Officer the CRIIO program was organized to bring mass involvement and mass participation into the game. He went on that in the program they involved coaches, players and administrators to help expand the game to the four corners of the country. By so doing he said they have a pilot phase and this phase is for Western Area/ Freetown and its environs. He went on that very soon they will be taking the program to the other regions. Daniel went on that they are targeting young players as they want to catch them when they are young. Daniel further said they are working to achieve the ICC set target which is over 20,000 participants with 2023 being the deadline. In all over 60 participants took part in the workshop who will be now taking the game to the schools and the various communities. He went on that they have gone far to meet the target and they are sure of getting the ICC set target before next year 2023.
