After a spectacular performance at the Sierra Leone Music Festival in the United States America, popular Sierra Leone musician Benjamin Menelik George aka Drizilik made headline on Fox 5 Washington DC Good-Day DC show.
Raising the country’s flag on the Good-Day DC show, the rapper stormed the show with an outstanding performance of two songs from his “Ashobi” album.
Speaking to the host of the show, Drizilik started by highlighting how he got connected with Hollywood actor Edriss Elba. He noted that Edriss is a Sierra Leonean descent and has a great interest in promoting the country’s art.
He explained that he got the opportunity to have connected with the actor through his management, which made it possible for him do the “Ashobi” song with the actor.
Describing his type of music, Drizilik noted his music is a “big mix” which comprises of Sierra Leonean sounds. Including “gumbay, millo jazz, bubu, Afrobeat and hip hop.
He went on to note that since this was his first time visiting America, he has made use of the opportunity to shoot a couple of videos.
Making his parting remarks, the rapper noted that five years from now is goal to properly reintroduce Sierra Leonean music to the global scene.
He also marked that he would love to serve as an inspiration to other artistes in Sierra Leone as well as put them on the global stage. Drizilik ended by calling on his fans to stream his music on every social media platforms.
