Empower Underprivileged Women And Girls Foundation a local based Non-Governmental Organization has been launched. The launch took place at Sheriff Drive, Regent Road Lumley in the Western Area Rural District. 

According to the founder and Chief Executive Officer, Babagaleh Wurie, the foundation aims at improving the livelihood of the underprivileged women and girls to become resilient to their community. He pointed out that in line with the vision of the organization, he has assisted a number of less privileged children, women and girls at the Waterloo refugee camp and is currently helping women and girls who are faced with challenges in their various societies and communities.

He explained that the foundation was founded in February 2023 when a mentally depressed Sierra Leonean orphan was deported from Lebanon. He continued that they managed to take her to the hospital to regain her health and she is presently in college furthering her education while the organization continues to provide food, shelter and clothing for her. 

He cited another child from Mile 91 suffering from some form of poor medical condition. The organization, he said provided transportation from Bo for the child, her grandmother and the staff of the organization for registration at Mercy Ship in Freetown. He continued that the organization has done a lot for the vulnerable women and girls.

Some of the beneficiaries thanked the founder and appreciated him for the consideration.
