(Source- New Age) – Water everywhere but not a single drop to save the Ministry of Water Resource Rural water service in Kambia.
Onlookers watched helplessly as the main office of the Ministry of Water Resources burnt down to Smithers. Most people video recorded as the inferno engulfed the building from its interior to the exterior not leaving some nearby trees unscathed.
The caretaker reported that he was at his post when he heard a blasting sound from within the building but as there was no one inside, neither had he keys to open the doors, he was left helpless but to watch in vain.
The first question on everyone’s lips was where was the fire service? Ironically the fire service building was just two buildings away from the scene, less than thirty seconds walk. Not a single fire officer was seen at the sight of the incidence.
The Caretaker at the Fire Service building disclosed that they only had a nominal fire service in the district as they had no fire engines, hoses, extinguishers or any other form of firefighting equipment.
Although serious, it is but comical that a water facility could be on fire and the fire service had no water to save the water resource service.
One begins to wonder what that particular service was doing in that district if they could not extinguish a fire in their very neighborhood.
