The First Bank of Nigeria in Sierra Leone has on Friday 31st March, 2023 changed its name to FIRST BANK SIERRA LEONE.
This was disclosed at a press conference organized by Management of the Bank at their Head office, 3 Charlotte Street in Freetown.
Addressing the media, the Chief Executive Officer FIRST BANK SIERRA LEONE Udeme O. Udoh noted that their parent company First Bank of Nigeria Limited, West Africa’s premier and leading financial inclusion service provider, has announced a phased corporate name change of its subsidiaries in the United Kingdom and Sub-Saharan African.
The First set of subsidiaries effecting the name change in alignment to the parent bank, First Bank are FBN Bank UK, FBN Bank Sierra Leone, FBN Bank Gambia, and FBN Bank DRC effective 31st March, 2023.
These subsidiaries would now be known and addressed as follows: First Bank UK, First Bank Sierra Leone, First Bank Gambia and First Bank DRC.
He furthered that the First Bank subsidiaries in Ghana, Senegal, and Guinea would be next to the phased implementation of the name change project.
It must be noted that the name change is being implemented to align with the parent brand to leverage the strong heritage and brand equity built by First Bank of Nigeria Limited in its 192 years of existence, as the leading bank and foremost financial services provider in the industry, to the advantage of their customers globally.
The change would further ensure brand clarity, safe guide uniformity, and consistency across all the respective, markets where the First Bank Group does business.
The subsidiaries’ name change would also entrench the perception of the bank as a monolithic brand and enhance the synergy optimization opportunities across the globe.
The CEO of First Bank Group, Dr Adesola Adeduntan revealed that the change of name coincided with First Bank’s 129th Founding Anniversary (31st March,2023), which is a milestone reflecting on their resolve to continuously provide the gold standards of excellence and value as they put their customers first.
The new identity of the subsidiaries contributes to enhance brand presence and helps customers and stakeholders better appreciate the value of the diversified products suites, competitive pricing and large business network offered by the bank.
CEO Udeme O. Udoh furthered that since its establishment in 1894, First Bank has consistently built relationship with customers focusing on the fundamentals of good corporate governance, strong liquidity, optimized risk management and leadership.
He furthered that over the years, the parent company, First Bank has led the financing of private investments in infrastructural development in the Nigerian economy, by playing key roles in the Federal Government Privatization and commercial schemes.
In Sierra Leone First Bank, has expanded their branch network in March 2022, with the opening of a branch at Ross Road, Cline town, Freetown. The Bank has also provided a rich banquet of products to meet the banking needs of individuals, companies and the business community in the country. With this it was revealed that the change of name from FBN Bank Sierra Leone to First Bank Sierra Leone would reinforce their brand’s vantage position as a partner for nation building.
