FREETOWN – SLFA members have claimed that the issue of the match fixing allegation in Sierra Leone always comes up when the SLFA members request for the long awaiting elective congress.

The present executive has overstayed in power for three years. This has led the stakeholders of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) to put pressure on the executive to hold elective congress.

But they say at any time congress issue comes up, the issue of match fixing allegation comes up but they can’t investigate it.

Few years the back, the FA suspended few players and officials for the above match fixing allegation.

Among them were Morrison Sannoh and Abu Bakarr Kaba who the FA alleged fixed a friendly match against Malaysia.

Rodney Michael, Abu Bakarr Kaba and four players- Christian Coker, Ibrahim Obreh Kagbo, Samuel Ballay and Ibrahim Koroma were alleged to have involved in fixing a match against Bafana Bafana in South Africa which ended 0-0.

Victor Lewis, Referee Kabia and Nasiru Deen Othman were accused of fixing local matches in Sierra Leone.

The above names have remained in suspension for over 4 years without justice except for Abu Bakarr Kaba and Ibrahim Oreh Kagbo who FIFA has also found guilty of fixing matches.

The former Sports Minister Paul Kamara who released a joint press release said that they banned the above names from sports activities but later lifted the ban for lack of evidence.

But SLFA executive decided to still hold on the matter. Few days ago back, some football members in Sierra Leone in a press release claimed the FA president talk about the match fixing at the Big Sister’s Show in Freetown.

In the release, they said she lied to the ladies and the viewers of the TV Show as they said she has no evidence for the above match fixing claim.

The football members have concluded that the FA President wants to use the match fixing allegation to disfranchise the above mentioned names from contesting against her in the upcoming elective congress.

In this case, football fans have called on the FA to go all out to investigate the match fixing allegation or lift the ban on them if the FA has no evidence of their claims.

Few of the football members told SALONE TIMES Sports that they have the confidence that the FA has no evidence.

They mentioned about the incident in which Isha Johansen one time confessed before parliament that she has no evidence for the match fixing but decide to hang on it as a way of depriving the other candidates for SLFA elective congress.
