Judo President Flank by the NOC President, CEO And Women And Sports Commission Receiving the Uniforms

By Allieu Bockarie  The former Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sierra Leone to Geneva Her Excellency Madam Yvette Stevens on Friday February 17th on behalf of her late son Borris Siaka Stevens donated uniforms to the Judo Association in Sierra Leone. The donation was done at NOC Head office, Howe Street in Freetown. The uniforms were received by the Judo President Idrisa Massaquoi who also serves as the NOC Vice President on behalf of the association. Also present were the NOC President Prince Vandy Sualley, Unisa Deen Kargbo NOC Treasurer, Joseph Nyande CEO NOC and several others. Presenting the uniforms the former Ambassador said she was fulfilling the dreams of her late son who had wanted to do the donation before his unfortunate death. She went on that it was a very emotional day for her to do the donation to the right recipients of the uniforms. She told the Judo president that her son was a Black Belter in Judo and was very personate about Judo. As such his greatest aim was always to help the Judo Association at home as he started to buy Judo uniforms and other equipment to donate them to his home country. Because of his passion for Judo she said the whole Stevens family has become passionate for Judo. While he was alive Borris won the Swiss championship few years back and also own Judo school where he used to train young Judokas.  Madam Stevens told the Judo president that they have more Judo uniforms which her son bought but that she is finding way to ship them to Sierra Leone. She said such donation ceremony was what exactly her son would have loved to do. Beside the late son she said the other children are also doing Judo sport as such they will continue were their late brother ended. Receiving the uniforms Massaquoi said it is sad to hear that Borris is no more as he was with high plan for Judo development in Sierra Leone. He went on that few years back Borris came to Sierra Leone and went to the gym and trained with the athletes and the coaches. He went on that after the training Borris told him that his desire is to help develop Judo in Sierra Leone. Back to Swiss he said Borris talk to the president of Swiss Judo Federation on developing Judo in Sierra Leone. Massaquoi said when he met with the Swiss Judo Federation president he told him that he has a discussion with Borris on how to help develop Judo in Sierra Leone. He though said in life one proposes and God disposes. He thanked the Madam for letting her son’s dream comes true. He assured her that the uniforms will go a long way to develop the sport in Sierra Leone. The NOC President Prince Vandy Sualley thanked Madam Stevens for letting her sons dream comes true. He assured the Madam that the doors of NOC office was always open to them at any giving time.
