FREETOWN, July 14 (SALONE TIMES) – Sports journalists all over the world on the 2nd July 2022 celebrate World Sports Journalists Day with the theme to celebrate female sports journalist. In Sierra Leone the Sports journalists celebrate the day with different sports display. Among the various sports were Taekwondo, Gymnastic, Football and Cricket. The Secretary General of the Sierra Leone Sports Writers Association (SWASAL) Francess Bernard-Bundor in her address told the female Cricketers at POW Cricket Ovals to take their sports serious along with education. She went on that Sports is not like before when people think it was for drop out. Francess said currently they have sports men and women with first and second degrees and some with PHD’s. Frances cited examples of senior female team captain Linda Bull who is now a Law student, Ann-Marie Kamara a State Registered Nurse and several more who have acquired higher education while in sports. She told them that she also is a first degree holder and her colleague Esther Marie Samura is now doing her Masters degree. She told them to take sport seriously as it will take them to places in the world where they will meet with different people in the world.
