FREETOWN, Nov. 9 (232News) – An inferno happened in east end of Freetown at around 9:45 am this past Friday 5th November, killing scores of people with other hundreds in critical condition at various hospitals in Freetown

Eye witness confirmed that a fuel tanker was hit at the SLPMB Junction at Wellington which resulted in the fuel tanker leaking petrol and that the unsuspecting people, mostly Bike (Okada) Riders and Taxi drivers decided to take fuel from the leaking tanker when an explosion occurred.

“This is a terrible incident, I can’t tell the exact amount of people that may have been burnt to ashes but plenty people have died,” an eye witness maintained.

Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has been around since 1am on Saturday 6 September visited  the main referral Connaught hospital and the military hospital trying to coordinate the agencies.

Vice President Juldeh Jalloh has also gone to the scene to reassure the people of government support, pointing out that the total number of people who died so far are 97 while 92 people are in the hospital.

Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has canceled his trip to ECOWAS, heading home to empathize with the people.

“Deeply disturbed by the tragic fire and the horrendous loss of life around Wellington PMB area. My profound sympathies with families who have lost loved ones and those who have been maimed as a result. My Govt will do anything to support affected families,” President Bio twitted.
