Juan Receiving The cash and the other donations from the Board Chairman

FREETOWN, Aug 16 (SALONE TIMES) – Juan Jackson will be representing Sierra Leone in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games female javelin throw event. Juan who will be 15 years old on the 16 August 2020 is a pupil of the Freetown Secondary School for Girls (FSSG) awaiting her BECE results.

Juan qualified on wild card for the above event base on her performance in the Africa Paralympic qualifying that was organized in Tunisia few months back.

She is presently training hard to enable her compete among top female athletes in the Paralympic Games. Her school board which is headed by Dove Edwin an Olympian thought it is an opportunity for them to boost the young girl during her trainings.

Dove Edwin said he met and communicated with old pupils and his Olympian friends to help them boost their only pupil who will be going to represent Sierra Leone in Tokyo.

In this case, he said Juan is not only going to represent Sierra Leone but also the school.  He went on that her performance will encourage the other pupils in the school to take sports serious alongside their education.

Principal of the school, Gloria Macfoy described Juan as a very humble and one of the brilliant pupils in the school. She went on that despite Juan’s good performance in sports she is always serious in her class work.

Juan, she assured (Macfoy) will represent Sierra Leone and the school well while in Japan.

The President of the ex-pupils Ms. Rosamond Williams advised Juan to put up good behavior and concentrate on what she is doing here and while in Japan.

As a young athlete, she told Juan to make them proud and they in return will do more for her in the future. Juan assure the school administration and the board members that she will put up her best behavior while in Japan.

 On her performance, she said she will be performing against top stars but says she is not panic over that.

“If I failed to win a medal, I will make sure to break the record I set in Tunisia and set a new national record in Javelin throwing,” she stated.

She thanked the board’s goodwill gesture on behalf of the Paralympic Committee.

Among the things that were donated to her were travelling suitcase, sports wears, sports shoe, water bottle and some cash to use while training here and on her way going to Japan.
