The All Africa Games will be hosted in Ghana in the second week of March this year in Accra with deferent sporting disciplines set to take part in the Games.

For some of the sports it will be part of their Olympic qualifiers for the France Olympic Games in July 2024. Some will use it to upgrade their rankings.

According to source from the National Sports Authority in Sierra Leone they have formed a local organizing committee to asses and register qualified athletes for the Games. The committee have put a system in place to register athletes that can win medals for Sierra Leone. The criteria they have set is based on the advice of the Sports Minister that all athletes presented for registration must have taken part in international competitions.

According to Steven Kelfala, a member of the local organizing committee from NSA, they don’t want to go with athletes who will see the international competition strange when they get there. He said this time round they want athletes who can compete and win medals and not just to compete. He stated that the committee has put a budget together which they have presented to the government for approval.

He said they believe that the government will approve the budget as President Bio’s government believes in developing sports. He however noted that they are still waiting for some Sporting disciplines to present their required document for the games.

The international organizing committee of the games he said are work with time and if some of these sporting disciplines fail to present their documents before time, they will scale down on the number of athletes registered. He maintained that the Chef De Mission of NOC, Yayah Koroma has done almost all the entries of the athletes, and they are now waiting for the approval of the budget and the departure date.
