The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Gifted Soul International Charity (GSIC), Mrs. Cecilia Yankuba Gbla and her team visited and donated assorted food items to pupils of Precious Gem Mission School at Kroo Bay in Freetown.
According to the founder, Gifted Soul International Charity is a Christian based non profitable organisation registered by law with the Motto “women whose lives are full of good works” is supporting the less privileged with talents at actualised their dreams.
She went on to say GSIC based in the United States of America with 12 members including two Nigerians currently.
Mrs. Gbla disclosed that they first made a donation in 2020 at MacDonald along Waterloo axis and in 2022 they made similar donation in Nigeria as well.
She said for now, her organisation prioritised West Africa with the intentions of expanding in other regions as funding available. She pointed out that, they don’t have much to give currently but nothing is too small.
Gifted Soul International Charity, according to madam Gbla was touched by the story of the school as many pupils can’t afford to be in school. She thrown support to the school and expressed wiliness to support the school through the founder and head teacher because of their good work over the years.
“Nothing is too small to give, when you give, it means you are fulfilling the words of God. This is a Christian based organisation but we are spreading our support to all denomination,” Mrs. Gbla stated.
She further stated that they support people that don’t have the finance to pursue their goal.
“If we support you today, tomorrow nobody will suffer,” she said.
She thanked the head mistress for the good work she is doing and said it is not easy to take care of kids while giving an open invitation to all well-wishers of kids to give their little support to them.
Mrs Edwina Grant headmistress of the school disclosed that the Kroo Bay Chapter which she referred to as Zone have over 70 children. She disclosed further that most of the children they are dealing with are orphans, those that with parents or guardians have to either begged or sell charcoals to support their kids.
She thanked Gifted Soul International Charity for considering them even at the time they are bereaved. With joy, she said the donation is very timely.
She pointed out that it was a normed for some of the parents not to allow their kids to come to school on Thursdays and Fridays because they have to used them for begging on those days.
“
At first their parents decided for them to come to school for three days because most of the parents get their livelihoods through begging and selling of charcoals,” she stated.
According to Mrs. Grant, the mobile school have been in that community for the past 5 years.
Similar donation was made to the Moa Wharf zone of the school in the east end of Freetown.
The chairlady of the school thanked GSIC for their timely support. She expressed joy on behalf of the kids as such donation will go a long way for them.
