FREETOWN, July 14 (SALONE TIMES) – Randolf John, Prosecution witness two (PW2) testified before Justice Monfred Sesay of High court no 2 On the 29 June 2022. He said that the accused shot him in his left foot right in his compound after he had returned from the cinema at around 9 pm. The attack happened on the 26th May 2021 at 12 Leicester Road Hillside drive, off Berry Street Freetown. He said that the accused Mohamed Kamara and other persons unknown attacked him in his compound and shot him with pistol in his left foot close to his knee. ’’The attackers took my blue bag containing money and goods. They also took my jewelries all worth Le 576,580,000’’ he said. The victim was later rushed to Connaught hospital for medical treatment. According to the victim, he was in hospital when he got the message that one of the attackers had been arrested. The matter was reported to the Ross Road Police station for investigation. According to the charge sheet, the accused was in possession of one black pistol, one GT tell mobile phone and one unregistered motorbike.

PW1 Detective 8576 Kamara attached to exhibit office, criminal investigation department Criminal Investigation Department headquarters. Mr. Kamara said he is responsible for the registration of all exhibit brought in relating to crimes reported for investigation. According to PW1, on the 11th June 2021, detective inspector kabbia R attached to the Major Incident Unit at CID headquarters brought and handed to him one compact pistol, two live rounds ammunition, three empty bullet shell, one old KG TEL mobile phone and one unregistered motorcycle for registration. All of the above exhibits were tendered in court and formed part of the document.  

The accused was indicted on three count charges ranging from Conspiracy, robbery with aggravation and wounding with intent.

Conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravation contrary to section 23 (1) (a) larceny Act 1916 as repealed and replaced by section 2 of the imperial statutes criminal law adoption amendment act of no 16 1071 and wounding with intent contrary to section 18 of the offences against the person Act 1861.

A Jalloh Esq represented the state and R. S Bangura Esq from legal Aid Board represented the accused.

The matter was adjourned to July 17th 2022.
