FREETOWN, May 27 (232news.com) – Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara of Const. 59 has said that in 2018 when President Bio took over the reins of office he made a lofty increase in allocation for the health sector. In 2019 the allocation was increased to 15% and in 2022 instead of the allocation being increased it was decreased to 12%. He pointed out that in 2018 the president said his government allocated 50 billion to the health sector yet our hospitals cannot boast of a CT scan machine. He said when a patient visits a government hospital for scan the doctor refer the patient to private hospitals for scan.
Hon Kamara made this statement on Monday May 23rd 2022 while contributing to the motion of Thanks to His Excellency the president Julius Maada Bio for the speech which he delivered at the Well of Parliament on May 10th 2022 at Parliament Building Tower Hill in Freetown.
According to him, in 2021 the president’s speech did not touch on corruption nor did it address anything concerning teachers. He continued that when the SLPP took power they assured them as members of parliament that the Auditor General report will be debated in parliament which has been deprived by the Leadership of parliament. He reiterated that the 2020 Auditor’s General Report has indicted the Office of the President on three counts including presenting false receipts of medical bill to Dubai and Money Laundering. The issue of corruption at the President office, he said needed to be investigated. He lamented that since this president was elected there has been no National Cohesion and the human right is a mess.
The APC MP pointed out that in 2018, the president said he was going to give a single digit GDP but up to this moment this has not happened. He referred to the Bank Governor as the worst Bank Governor this country has ever produced and cited the US Embassy report in which the country’s image was badly dented and that this was the last debate on the president speech from 2018 t0 2022. The Leader of Government business said the Lungi Bridge was not part of SLPP Manifesto.
The Leader of Government Business Hon Mathew Nyuma advised members of parliament how to debate the president speech because all what he had said in his speech is going to delivered to the people of this country. Hon Ishmail Sama Sandi said the president has allocated Le 75bn for the rehabilitation in to the health sector.
