Former Member of Parliament of Constituency 013 Kenema district has been appointed by President Julius Maada Bio this past Friday, August 25th, 2023 to head the Immigration Department.
This honorable man is going to replace the Chief Immigration Officer Andrew Jaiah Kaikai prior to his parliamentary approval.
Hon Kanneh is going to face the Committee on Appointment and Public Service. He served parliament for ten years from 2012 to 2023 and he was former Chairman for the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Internal Affairs who provides oversight functions on the work of the Police, Immigration, Police and National Fire Force.
He also served in committees like Appointment and Public Service, Sports, Information and Public Account.
According to him, the appointment came as a surprise to him, because he is a humble man even though he was denied symbol to contest for Member of Parliament in the 2023 election, he is thankful to God for that.
He went on to say after he had gone through the interview and if parliament approved him, he would do his best to make sure he succeeded in that office as a former Member of Parliament.
He pointed out that when he was a Member of Parliament for Kenema district, he served his people well in Parliament.
He stated that when was in parliament he also served as Deputy Chief Whip in parliament and at the same time, he was a businessman in Norway before coming into politics.
He stated that he has also brought in his Norwegian partners to establish a mining company which has created jobs for Sierra Leoneans.
He furthered that he would work with all of the staff at the immigration department so that he would achieve the President’s dream.
