The Chairman of the Public Account Committee who doubles as Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon Ibrahim Tawa Conteh has ordered officials of the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) to present files of 54 officials that were receiving salary from their payroll which the 2023 Audit report captured or else they would have to pay the monies for 54 people.
According to officials at the HRMO, they assigned staff to different ministries, noting that if they were in their staff list they should have signed the register at HRMO.
Hon Conteh ordered that they would have to reach out to these people and they would not stop at establishing whether they are alive, pointing out that the committee will make sure that they check with the necessary Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) where they are supposed to be signing.
The other issue is poor records management for 125 staff requested by the auditor’s for auditing inspection, noting that 54 files were not submitted for audit during verification.
Hon Aaron Aruna Koroma said it shows that HRMO admitted to the auditor’s queries. The Head of HRMO responded that after the audit queries they have been looking for the files.
The Officials of HRMO explained that they don’t have enough space for all of the files and most times during audit there is misplacement.
Hon Conteh. said that they are telling the committee that HRMO does not have system or file management but the official said that they have a system.
The Chairman informed officials of HRMO that he will put out a notice at SLBC, AYV and Radio democracy 98.1 that he wants to see these people in parliament.
