The Open Mapping Hub for West and North Africa of the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) in partnership with the Sierra Leone Red Cross Society (SLRCS) ended a weeklong training at the Swiss Hotel in Freetown which started from Monday March 4th to March 8th, 2024 through the “Strengthening Gender Resilience Against Disaster” project in Sierra Leone.

Participants were drawn from 20 women groups with the aim of enhancing the disaster management capacity of women’s organizations through open and participatory mapping. It also provides microgrant opportunities through an application process and networks.

At the end of the training, participants described the training as first of its kind. The commended the organizers for what they described as a mind-blowing knowledge.
