The President of Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Babadi Kamara has said that he did not go to the FA to enrich himself but to serve the nation.

Mr. Kamara made this statement this past Monday February 23 when the committee on Sport headed by Hon Mariatu Rachel Sesay- Pessima summoned SLFA to a formalization meeting at Committee Room No.1 at Parliament Building

Updating the committee about their activities, Babadi Kamara explained that when he took over as President of FA, he met three games to complete the qualifiers of the last nation’s cup but  he did not bother to ask questions, so he left them to do thing as they have been doing, noting that for the 2027 qualifiers, they will sit and talk about the issues.

He said after qualifiers, he sent message to the Director that the way football is being run is not the right way.

He said that since he took over as President of the federation he has never seen or signed budget and at the same time, he has never seen a report of funds that have been expended on behalf of the national team.

“I have never seen a report but when I question it becomes problem. Nobody wants to be accountable, nobody wants to be transparent,” he asserted.

According to him, the planning for matches is the most important aspect of football as there are situations in which players that arrive on the next day for the match without a single training session will be on the pitch.

The President of SLFA further stated that when FIFA gives you money, it goes with conditionalities and that if one follows it, one will have no problem with FIFA and CAF.

He revealed that it is a surprise to know that SLFA was on financial restriction but that his six months in office has seen the restriction lifted.

He said that if they go out there, they gave them money, they eat the money and come back.
