“I Samura Kamara, I have no plan for 2028. I am sorry. Honestly, I am telling you, my fight is more for the people of this country, for democracy than for Samura Kamara as a person,” former flagbearer of the main opposition All People Congress (APC) said.
He made this statement in an interview with an APC social media platform, pointing out that he has spent over 40 years in serving Sierra Leone, feeling fulfilled.
He said that he has served many regimes in this country with a strong reputation and credibility as there are no institution in Sierra Leone that he does not have a hand in.
He appreciated the reform and the institution which he had helped to build in the country including Sierra Leone Road Authority (SLRA), National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) and even the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
“I consider my uplift to where I am now as a Divine Intervention. Ernest Koroma and I never discussed the issue of Flagbearer in 2018. That why when he called my name, I almost collapsed,” he said.
He said that electoral justice is a marathon and not a spring, calling on the Economic Community of West African State (ECOWAS) to assess the 2023 elections.
He said that if ECOWAS moves for electoral re-run in Sierra Leone, the international community will support it.
He explained that his next move is to put pressure on ECOWAS for electoral justice and re-run of the 2023 elections, calling on his supporters to exercise patience to see what ECOWAS will do
He said that what is happening to the APC is a wakeup call because they never deemed losing power in 2018 and in 2023.
