The ICC Regional Manager Patricia Kambarani has hailed the Sierra Leone Cricket Association for making huge progress in a single year. She made this pronouncement in a press conference while she was addressing the Sports Journalists in Sierra Leone. She told them on Tuesday at the Police Wives multipurpose hall about the strides needed to spread the ideals of Cricket in the four corners of the country. Their visit was part of the 360 frame work of Cricket Sierra Leone programme an engagement that is geared towards reviewing the organizational face of Cricket in the country and to make recommendations that could see significant change in the growth of the game. She started by thanking the press for following and reporting Cricket activities. She told the press that task in Sierra Leone is to speak to everybody concern about Cricket in Sierra Leone and not just about the Sierra Leone Cricket Association. Cricket she said has been playing in Sierra Leone for long. In this case she said they want to see the number of those playing the game weather the number is increasing or not. She though said Cricket is doing what exactly they are expecting them to do. During the meeting she asked the journalists to comment on the status of Cricket in Sierra Leone. Patricia said she was impressed with what the journalist said about Cricket which means they are doing well. In their comments the journalists appealed to ICC to increase funding to Sierra Leone Cricket Association to improve on their facilities. They also said that ICC in the case of increase the number of players they should create a way of taking the game to the school. In respond Patricia said the government need to include Cricket in the school curriculum to help spread the game and to also provide fund. The ICC Development officer who came with her added that ICC does not set aside money for the development of Cricket facilities. He went on that they work with partners to support Cricket federation facilities. On the same day they a meeting with the board members and the players. On the second day they met with staff of SLCA and talk on how to develop Cricket.
