The Sierra Leone Karate Federation will today Wednesday, 12 July present trophies and medals which they won in the West Africa Region 1 Karate championship in Senegal.
The Sierra Leone Karate Federation took part in the West Africa Region 1 championship few weeks back and won 3 gold medals, 3 trophies, 8 silver medals and 11 bronze medals. According to the Federation President Victor Edward Amara, the Cadets won the 3 gold medals and 3 silver medals and the rest were won by the individual fighters including the female fighters Sophia Amara and Catharine Sal.
As per protocols, he said they will be presenting the medals, the trophies and the athletes who won the laurels to the board members of the National Sports Authority at their Wilkinson Road office in Freetown.
During the presentation they will also update the NSA Directors about the next championship which they will be taking part in. Among them are the Africa Championship in Morocco and the World championship.
For the world championship, the president said they are expecting scholarship from the World Karate Federation for few athletes to undergo high performance training out of Sierra Leone.
The remaining athletes he said will engage in excessive training at home until the departure date for the Africa Championship in Morocco.
