The International Cricket Council has concluded its maiden edition of the ICC Umpire Tutor course in Harare Zimbabwe. The above course is designed to train qualified umpires from member countries in Africa to become ICC Tutors who in return will train and certify umpires that will be taking part in the ICC Level1 courses in their various countries.
Knox Harding an ICC Certified Umpire was invited to take part in the course. The course took place in Zimbabwe from the 1st to the 3rd July 2023 in Harare.
Addressing the participants, the course organizers admonished them to go and implement the training skills that they have learnt to help improve the efficiency of umpires and the quality of umpiring with regular assessments and feedback. They also emphasized on gender balance and participation which they said are other areas of importance in the overall development of umpires as mandated by the ICC.
Back home Knox Harding said the course was timely as there are lots of rules that have been introduced into the game. He went on that it will help the players to know the new rules which will guide in competitions both local and international. He thanked ICC, the board and the executive of Cricket Sierra Leone for giving him the opportunity to take part in the advance umpire course. He promised the Cricket Sierra Leone members pass on the knowledge to the others to improve the game.
