The Central One Football Association (COFA) will continue today at the Parade ground with the defending champions battling against Wilkinson Road.
The defending champions KTR lost their first match against Bambra Tong 3-2 while Wilkinson Road forced Adonkia community to a 1-1 draw at full time.
Both communities are in group A together with Adonkia and Bambra Tong. Bambra Tong is leading the group with 3 points, 3 goals in their favor with 2 goals against. Both Wilkinson Road and Adonkia are with 1 point and a goal against in the group leaving the defending champions with no point.
Two teams will qualify from each group to the group of 16 teams who battle for the quarter-final stage. Because of the group standings, the defending champions need nothing less than victory today if they are to qualify to the next stage of the champion’s league.
The defending champions will face Wilkinson Road today without 7 of their key players who have travel to Nigeria with FC Kallon while Musa Tombo though presently in Freetown is in doubt whether he will play for them or not.
The group leaders Bambra Tong engaged Adonkia yesterday Thursday but the result was not known until press time. In tomorrow’s match, Tengbeh Town will engage Wellington in a battle for supremacy. Both communities won their first match in the league and the winner will automatically lead the group.
