FREETOWN, Aug. 2 (232News) – Sierra Leone senior male national team, Leone Stars started their official training at the start of July 2021 at the Siaka Steven Stadium main bowl and also at the Football Academy Kingtom respectively. The training continues every Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the morning hours, from 7am to 10am. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, they trained in the morning and afternoon hours, 7am to 10am and 4pm to 6pm respectively in preparations for the 2022 AFCON Tournament schedule to take place in Cameroon from the 9th January to 6th February 2022.
The Head Coach of the team, John Keister in July invited thirty four players from various Premier Clubs in the Country that are currently undergoing the training.
Report from football authorities indicate that plans are on the way for Leone Stars to play International Friendy matches in line with FiFA calendar dates and there are plans also to scout for more foreign based players to Join the team.
According to reports, some of the foreign based players have started showing interest to play for the National Team and others will be contacted by the relevant authorities in charge.
In order for Leone Stars to have a well compact training as preparations continue, huge financial and material support is needed from government and private businesses by donating physical cash,bottles of water, drinks, medical kits, food etc. By donating to the National Team, you have contributed towards the success of the training, and your name or institution will be written in the annals of football in Sierra Leone.
Now is the time for all peace loving Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad to show signs of appreciation to Leone Stars for qualifying to the AFCON Tournament after 25 years.
