(Source- SALONE TIMES) –  The head coach of the senior national male football team Leone Stars John Keister on Tuesday 14th March pronounced the names of 25 players whom he said they will be travelling with to Morocco.

The Leone Stars team will jet out to Morocco on the 19th March 2023 for the double header match against Sao Tome and Principe. The two matches are the 2023 AFCON qualifiers that will take place at the Agadir Stadium in Morocco. In the squad, four new home based players made it to the final list of the team who are Abu Komeh and Mohamed Kabba from the league leaders Bo Rangers FC, Edward I Fornah from the newcomers Luawa FC and Mighty Blackpool striker Ron Gandhi Williams. Before announcing the final list of the team, the coach said they were aware of how important the two matches were. He went on that in the group Sierra Leone was lying in third position with 1 point in two matches played, Nigeria was leading the group with 6 points in 2 matches played Equatorial Guinea in third with 4 points in two matches played. Sierra Leone lost away to Nigeria 2-1 and drew with Equatorial Guinea at home 2-2. In this case the two matches against Sao Tome is a must win match for Sierra Leone if they are to qualify for the Ivory Coast AFCON Competition.

The head coach said before the announcement they sat down and looked at how important the two matches were and selected the players they thought could give them the results they wanted. The Assistant Secretary General of the FA Benson Bawoh confirmed to the media that government has approved the budget they sent to them and that they are now waiting for the takeoff date. According to him they had acquired tickets for all the delegation including the foreign based players who would join them in Morocco.
